Lux EP

by Moscow Youth Cult

/
  • Cassette + Digital Album

Following their 2012 debut album ‘Happiness Machines’ (Lo Recordings), electronic dance duo Moscow Youth Cult have crafted a powerful return in 2014 with their new EP ‘Lux’.

Lux provides a foretaste of the coming album - Brutalist (to be released in Spring 2015 through Hello Thor and I Own You Records)- and contains some fine examples of MYC’s manifesto to create dance music and deconstructed pop that is as experimental as it is compelling. Lux [the measurement for luminous emittence] draws its inspiration from the riches of electronica, avant garde poetry and the grainy aesthetic of obscure Sci-Fi and Horror movies [played live to a selection of cut-up clips].

The title song draws on the experience of leaving behind cherished but broken relationships and relocating to a new city, complete with the full weight of its history, infrastructure and emotional resonance.

Lux is released on tape and digital download; or as a limited edition lino print of the artwork with accompanying download. With remixes from Apalusa, Friend of a Friend and Larry Crywater, the Lux EP forms a distinctive and exciting entry into MYC's self-styled canon of VHS Pop with a sound that promises to linger in the ear and play on the mind.

Includes unlimited streaming of Lux EP via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more.
